S.O.S.. Save our Skin: Tips for Cooler Weather Maintenance

During these colder days I feel like I am always fighting to keep my skin and
scalp from becoming a sad, lackluster, parched mess.

Here are some methods I have been utilizing this winter especially
that are worth a try:

1. I purchased a gorgeous little humidifier and keep the heat a bit lower.
Dry heat does exactly that, zaps the moisture from your skin.

Not only will a humidifier help slow down premature aging, but when paired with drinking
copious amounts of water, your skin will remain glowing and supple.

2. Layer your products, especially at night. In the evening I pat a serum on
underneath my night cream to seal in essential vitamins and repair whatever sin skins
I may have committed that day.
3. To combat harsher conditions, go creamier.
Being somewhat prone to a shiny t-zone, I typically use a gel moisturizer during
late spring through early fall. When winter rolls around I break out the heavy
artillery and slather on a much richer cream.

4. Exfoliate per usual but keep it gentle.
It is always important to slough off dead skin with care, however it is doubly so during
harsh wintery days where micro-tears created by overt enthusiasm is sure to lead to premature wrinkles.
5. Altering small habits will create a world of change.
Lower the temperature when showering and cleansing your face,
limit alcohol and caffeine which are dehydrating, and be sure to incorporate
more healthy fats as possible or be consistent with your omega-3 supplements.

Outfit inspiration for the day is from Olivia.P
Started the day with: "Feel This Moment" by Pitbull & Christina Aguilera.
Love Christina, so good to see her back!

Have a wonderful day and turn this week into something wonderful.

  1. Girl, I needed to read this. my skin needs major work. lol. I'm getting a facial tomorrow but since I cant afford to splurge on facials every month. a good skin care regimen is soo needed. I'm going to do some research on the products you listed.. what do you use on your hair? My scalp gets dry so quickly after wash.. Happy New Week.. Xo

    1. You're so right - a good skincare regimen is crucial :)
I actually just started using Marula oil on my scalp (small amounts at night before I brush and wrap about every three days.) It is working wonders and keeps my hair quenched and shiny!

      Have a wonderful one Jewel!

  2. Fabulous products and look!
    Must try the Estee Lauder!

  3. Great tips! Thanks for the serum round-up. I just finished one I got as a gift and would love to keep using this type of product. - Carla

    1. I usually try new ones when I run out and only from the most notably reccommended. I haven't been let down yet :)

  4. Great tips! I definitely invested in a serum because I needed to lock in moisture. I also go heavier with my lotion during the colder months and keep lotion with me at all times.

  5. Hey! I just pop by through a bloghop, and girl, I just have a crush on your blog!! Loved this post! I've tried the Estee Lauder serum and I loved it! I never tried a humidifier because I used to live on Mallorca, Spain, and we had tons of humidity! Now that I moved to Norway I may try it out once, air is much dried here!

I am following you with GFC, feel free to visit my blog and follow back if you feel like! xoxoxox

    1. Thank you Kristina, I will definitely begin following now :)

  7. I think I’ll consider about the creams and stick with it, the humidifier seems a bit complicated.

  8. It is very important to take care of the skin. I had so many zits when I was growing up and now with the help of certain products my face is zit free. Love the products that are been displayed.

  9. So about this little humidifier, is it safe for the skin and I need to know how it works and I’m a little afraid that it might bring side effects.

  10. Inspirational gathering, these tips are really helpful to survive during winter.

  11. i should use my humidifier- i always forget about that. mi have to switch my hair shampoo/cond to more moisturizing too
