Weekend getaways seem far more prevalent in the summertime.
Whether you're taking the Steamship Authority to the Vineyard or LIE to The Hamptons, one thing remains the same, packing light is most ideal.
Bring versatile pieces like shirt-dresses that work easily together (potentially with a similar color scheme) and that you're most comfortable in. If you are unsure about a particular garment, leave it. If you hesitate at home on familiar ground you probably won't wear it while away.
Plan your outfits by occasion with flexibility. For the most part you'll have an idea of daytrips and evening events and can work out what necessities are essential for each.
Utilize your multitask pieces like a maxi that's breezy enough for a sightseeing tourbut can easily be dressed up for a dinner on the patio beach-side.
When adding variety and color to your suitcase, chose more accessories rather than
additional bulky pieces of clothing. Jewelry, scarves, fun flats and belts can dramatically augment any wardrobe, no matter how seemingly limited.
Know how to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Rolling cotton pieces like tees and totes
will save you a lot of space. Folding should be saved mainly for dress pieces and tuckyour jewelry roll and cosmetics pouch in structured spaces already taking up space (shoes). What are some ways you save space when packing for a weekend away?

I really like your packing tips. My mother always told me to stuff my socks in the shoes I was bringing. I know that doesn't save a terrible amount of space but I suppose it helps. She also always told me to leave a little room if you plan on shopping! We always folded a long champ in our luggage so we had extra room to bring back goodies!
